Test Prep Blitz: Are You Ready for Some Football?!

Although I am currently on Spring Break, I can't stop thinking about "the test".  When I return to school, I will have fifteen days left to pump them up and tie up loose ends, and I won't lie.  It's kind of panic inducing!  :)  So, how have I spent the last week or so of my life?!  Working on a test prep blitz that will get my kiddos ready for the "big game"!  I always tell them that the OAA is kind of like the Superbowl of third grade, that each day together is like a practice session, and each test is like a regular season game leading up to the "big game".  We use this analogy often, and I am really hoping that they will get thoroughly enjoy the activities I have planned so far.  (I say "so far" because I can almost bank on the fact that I will add more over the next few weeks, and I have no idea where this theme will take us... for sure.)  I do know, however, that I am really excited about what I have in my playbook.

For starters, I revamped my old Vocabulary Star game for Language Arts.  (The math set is still Hollywood themed, and I hope to update it soon.)  It looks SO much better now, and I love the football theme!  If you already own it, make sure you download the new copy!

The game is basically a version of musical chairs, except nobody is ever "out".  They just have to answer questions if they land on a "Vocabulary Star" chair.  The kids LOVE playing this every year!

The other item I just added to my store accompanies the Vocabulary Star game.  The Vocabulary Blitz: Test Prep Word Mapping packet contains many of the same vocabulary words to review as a word of the day... or to review a few per day leading up to the big test.  :)

Now for the biggie.  I just finished my most favorite packet ever.  :)  It's 129 pages of football themed activities to get my kiddos ready for the big OAA.  I'm going to be totally transparent here, and say that I will most certainly keep adding to it, so if you think you could use it, keep in mind that the price will go up once I add more centers and activities to it. If you buy it now, then you get the extras at without the extra cost.  I hope that makes sense!)  As of right now, here she is in all of her glory.  Let's take a little peek at Football Frenzy: A Standardized Testing Blitz

A synonym/antonym sort!  I found the mini-trashcans at Dollar Tree, but you could use the labels as sorting mats!

This is a hula hoop Venn to compare/contrast soccer and football.  The hula hoops are from Dollar Tree too!
This is a syllabication game!  The trophies were from Dollar Tree.  I just numbered them with a Sharpie.

This is another syllabication board.  I used pom poms for counters instead.  Guess where the dice is from!?  :)

These spinners will be great practice for word play.  I just need to pick up some brads!  (Plates from Dollar Tree!  Ha!)

This is a card from my Read the Room Center.  It has a corresponding booklet to fill out.  I also have cheers!

These are great little signs for small group work!  Sometimes props can make a big difference!

This is my coaching binder!  The next picture shows the contents!

I plan on pulling kiddos to work with me individually with dry erase markers.  I will most likely add more of these!
These baggies are for a contraction matching game!  :)
As you can see, we are going to be BUSY when we return to school.  I am sure that I will be cooking up more activities too.  I have the cutest football themed Easter eggs that I am playing with right now.  Oh, the possibilities!  If changes are made to the file, I promise to post about it on my blog and my facebook page to give you a chance to download the updated copy as soon as it's available! If you are interested in this packet, you can snag it HERE!

I know I already blogged about my ELA Test Strategy Posters, but I wanted to share them again, because they go along with some of the activities in my Football Frenzy packet so well.

Now, here's the deal.  I polled my facebook followers to see whether I should bundle everything or offer them separately, and pretty much everyone said to offer it both ways.  All of the links above will take you to the individual products, but if you are interested in checking out the bundle of all four products (for the greatest savings), then you'll definitely want to click HERE!  Happy Coaching!
