Sticky Note Jot Spots for Accountable Talk!
This week, we are reading "Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest" by Steve Jenkins. :) To dig a little "deeper", today we used Sticky Note Jot Spots to frame our thinking. Each child was assigned a role prior to rereading the text, and then heterogenous groups were formed for sharing out learning. The kiddos absolutely LOVED this activity, and there were lots of meaningful conversations taking place around the room as they referred back to the text to support their note-taking! (Accountable Talk always makes my heart go pitter-pat! Ha!) In addition, this was also a great formative assessment tool that helped me to see areas of strengths and weaknesses that will undoubtedly help me plan as we forge ahead! I can see so much potential for this resource in small groups for guided reading or for literature circles! Friends, I am one happy teacher!!! :) Have a good one!

I am loving your "Jot Spot" idea. I have been trying to figure out to do with all those loose sticky notes. Half of them randomly end up on my classroom floor. I am stealing this idea!

This looks like a great activity to get the kids talking. But not only to get them talking about what they are reading and but also on being accountable. Thanks for sharing this idea.
