Strategies for Improving Reading Instruction Workshop!

There's still room left in my summer workshop: Strategies for Improving Reading Instruction! This course will equip elementary teachers with meaningful, engaging intentional methods to improve reading comprehension. Topics covered will be Common Core shifts and their implications, implementing concrete models, scaffolding, and intentional planning. The assessment cycle and learning targets will be addressed as well as exploration of effective vocabulary strategies, new literacies, informational text strategies, close reading, higher-order questioning, and the importance of citing text-based evidence. Participants will have fun while examining the increasing demands of twenty-first century literacy and adding to their proverbial tool belts.
