Bucket Filling Fundraiser: Water For Life...and Lesson Plans Too!

As elementary teachers, we all know what it means to be a "bucket filler", but what if you could LITERALLY fill someone's bucket for their WHOLE LIFE?  What is this person was a child in a developing country with NO access to clean water?!  What if your contribution could fill that child's bucket with water... AND HOPE?!  What if it could SAVE that child's life?!  What would YOU do?

This past Sunday, during a wonderful sermon about quenching our spiritual thirst, our pastor prompted us to "take the blinders off"... to really think about the world outside of the United States... to think beyond ourselves.  We were told about an amazing initiative by Compassion International to provide water filtration systems in developing countries.  Essentially the system is a bucket with a filter that is able to filter one million gallons of water... and could quench the thirst of a family of THIRTEEN... for their ENTIRE LIVES.  After hearing about this wonderful initiative, Mr. Wonderful and I decided to make a contribution.  Of course that was after I sobbed throughout the entire service!  :)  The idea that we could have such a HUGE impact on a child's life prompted us to make a donation that brought even more tears to my eyes.  Even still, I felt this intense tugging on my heart as we headed home.  I knew there had to be a way to make a bigger impact and help more kiddos.

So, I asked a few bloggy buddies if they would be interested in donating items for a fundraiser, and because teacher-bloggers are so compassionate, they obliged.  I am happy to offer you a HUGE bundle of teaching resources in exchange for your donation to "Water of Life".  For only $25.00, you will receive every item mentioned in this blog post, which is an AMAZING deal!  All profits will go towards filtration systems in Africa, Asia, or Latin America. If you can only give a few dollars, or if you feel compelled to give more, please know that every penny will make a profound difference in the life of a child.

“Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.” (John 4:14)
Before, I get into the nitty gritty details, I want to spend a few minutes sharing some information that was obtained from a little pamphlet:

Why do children living in poverty need access to safe drinking water?
Every day, over 4,000 children are dying of water-related diseases such as cholera and typhoid that are easily preventable.   Many more are suffering from sickness, diarrhea, and acute stomach pains... illnesses that stop children from going to school and growing up into healthy adults.  When you give to Compassion Water of Life, you are not only giving safe drinking water, you are protecting a child from life-threatening diseases and allowing that child to go to school, to dream, and to reach their full potential.

What does $79.00 provide?
For $79.00, a family will receive one Compassion Water of Life system, which filters one million gallons of water.  It also provides education for improving hygiene and sanitation and support for improving community water sources when needed.

How can you help?
Your donation (no matter how big or how small) could potentially SAVE LIVES... and it will literally fill someone's bucket with hope and clean water!  If you make a contribution of at least $25.00, you will receive a HUGE bundle of teaching materials to improve your own students' lives as well!  Simply click the button below to donate!  Once I receive an email notification, I will email the bundled file at my earliest convenience! :)  This fundraiser will run until Saturday.  After that point in time, I will transfer funds into my checking, and I will write a BIG check to Compassion International to turn in this Saturday!  I will also pop back in to tell you how many water filtration systems we were able to purchase for families in need.  What a great way to give back this holiday season! :)  Click on any of the pictures below to check out the files that are available as a BIG bundle!

THIS FUNDRAISER IS NO LONGER ACTIVE.  :)

Sometimes we get so caught up living our lives with our blinders on that we forget how truly fortunate we are.  This holiday season and always... MAY YOU BE BLESSED!!!  :)

    1. Hi, Dana! I sent them to the email addresses linked to PayPal, because that was easiest, so it probably went to your husband's account. Let me know if you didn't receive it! :)

    1. Hi, Carole! I thought I had emailed everyone their files. Just send an email my way letting me know your email address. I sent everything out to whatever address was linked to your PayPal account, so you may want to check that. I don't know if it could have gone to your spam folder either, but if you don't find it email me. amanda.nickerson84@gmail.com
