If you'd like a copy of my welcome bag tag, you can download it HERE! I love the way they looked!
I revamped letters, checklists and tent cards this year, and I am really happy with the end result! Buckle your seat belts! We're going on a little virtual field trip!
Checklists are CRUCIAL for Open Houses & Meet the Teacher! :) Especially since I can't clone myself! |
Last year, a few kiddos got their folders mixed up with other siblings' stuff, so this year, I labeled everything!!!! |
I used to fold construction paper for signs, but this year, I put my "fancy pants' on. :) |

Oh! I can't forget this little tidbit. One of my favorite classroom traditions at the beginning of the year is mailing out letters to my kiddos! :) I like to include information about myself, and this year, Cara inspired me to include a "Meet the Teacher" page. I also like to include a picture to calm nerves. As you can see, I write something like, "This is me, Mrs. Nickerson! Maybe you've seen me in the hallway before!" I always hope that a familiar face will keep the butterflies away! :)
If you follow my blog on facebook, you may recall my questions about how to decorate a trophy display case that I share with my partner. We decided to do a little rockstar theme. We have big plans for this space... so once photos are taken... I'll share an updated picture. This is the current status. :) Stay tuned.
I realize that this post is a hodgepodge of randomness, but I currently have the attention span of a squirrel right now. :) This is as good as it gets tonight! Ha! If you are a Reading Street teacher & teach third grade, I've updated my Essential Questions file, so you'll definitely want to check that out HERE! I somehow missed the question for "Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday", so that was added. I also created half-page sheets for the daily questions! I plan on hitting this component a lot harder this year, so hopefully it can benefit someone else as well.
Happy Long Weekend, Friends! I hope you enjoy it! I will be using this time to catch up on projects for my kiddos... and grad school. If you have emailed me sometime over the past two weeks, I promise I will try to respond as soon as I can! :) I was out of town all weekend for a wedding (last weekend) so I am a little behind. It's time to play catch-up! Starting... NOW! :)
I'd love to be a parent in your class! Your open house materials are thoughtful, organized and cute!

Great post! I love all of your ideas. I really like your display case and your welcome bags. You took the meanings a bit further. We aren't allowed to give out candy so I have to really change it up a bit, another thing I still need to do.
ReplyDeleteThe Reading Street packets are great! I will be stalking your store for anything RS related!

I would love to have a copy of your welcome tag too that is editable so I can change the grade level. Anyway to get your open house sign in sheet too? Oh and the tent cards are great but it would be nice to be able to edit those too so I can type on the blank ones to customize them for my needs. Thank you so much. Joy
