Fluency Fun with the hearAll Assessment Recorder & A GIVEAWAY!

Hey friends!  Have you heard if the hearAll Assessment Recorder from Learning Resources?!  If you haven't, it's seriously worth looking into.  I am a HUGE fan of this little magical gadget.  It's so easy to use too!  It comes installed with a battery that you charge using a USB cord.  So simple.  It's so easy to open folders and play recordings too.  Luckily, as a back-up, it also comes with user-friendly directions.  I got it in the mail, brought it to school the very next day, charged it during bell work, and it was ready to go by the time my first Language Arts block rolled around.  If you want to win a FREE recorder (valued at $100) for your classroom... keep reading!



I should add that my thirdsters are obsessed with it.  They took their fluency checks super seriously, and they were so excited to have their little voices recorded for the benchmark test.  {You have to admit, benchmarks are kind of BLAH, so anything that makes it feel more "fun" is fabulous!}  I'm looking forward to playing around with it for literature circle groups, guided reading, independent fluency practice, reader's theater,  and all sorts of other classroom activities.  :)   Maybe a little pod-casting is in order.  Of course, my students are looking forward to it too!  We love technology!!!!

    This looks so cool, I hadn't heard of it before! I would definitely use this with my reading intervention kids to strengthen fluency. I also think my first graders would have fun with it for recording stories!

    I have actually been thinking about researching what I could use to record some of my kiddos reading to practice fluency. I also think it'd be great to use this to share with parents what fluent readers sound like... or the progress they are making. We have a chart in the hall that the kids love to see themselves push towards their wpm goal and I wonder if this add encouragement. My lower ones would then get to hear what they sound like so we can correct themselves! I'm excited you posted about this!

    I think this recorder would be wonderful! I teach first and besides the obvious use for running records and fluency it would be great to have the students hear themselves reading. I think it could be used to allow parents to hear what a fluent first grade reader sound like, "real reading" that some parents don't understand we look for in assessments.

    Amanda, I am one of your followers. I would love to use this with my first graders to work on fluency. I would have my students look at their graph to see if it goes up and down or just stays straight across. I would also have them listen to themselves to hear what they sound like as a reader.

    Would LOVE to win this to add to my classroom resources! What comes to mind right away...
    --recording kids reading aloud for fluency check & to share with both the student and parents.

    --to record cooperative groups in action to assess how they are working. This would help me gain a better understanding of how groups are functioning while I am working with other groups in the room.
