Just keep your Judy Clock handy to allow the kiddos to manipulate the hands if they need to think it through before writing an answer on the board! I love it. The kids love it. It's a win-win situation!

Quick Idea for Practicing Telling Time!
If you're in search of an engaging time-saving lesson for telling time, this is a winner! All you have to do is stick a hula hoop to the white board, and write numbers around the inside of the circle to make a "clock". You can make little notches around the inside of the hula hoop to practice telling time to the exact minute, if you choose to, but I really like to use this to work with elapsed time. We rarely tell time to the minute when practicing elapsed time, so the prep for this lesson is minimal!

ReplyDeleteA Kindergarten teacher in my district gave me this idea...."Teddy Time Tuesdays." You make a chart with a clock to show each hour (could also do to the half hour) and then write a student's name beside that clock. When it is their time they get to go get "Teddy" and have him sit on their desk. I will take a picture and post on my blog and also upload the "Teddy Time" header that I made.
