Metacognition Tool Kit: A Labor of Love!

Wow.  Since we had a HUGE ice storm we had a "snow day" on account of the ice-skating rink that encompassed pretty much our whole region.  So, since I didn't go to school and my grad school class was cancelled, I spent literally ALL DAY working on this bundle of joy: The Metacognition Tool Kit!  I created 19 pages of posters, hand-outs, manipulatives, and ideas to help make the reading strategies more tangible and fun to kiddos K-4-ish, and you can find it in my TpT store!  I hope that you love it as much as I do, because I absolutely can't wait to use it with my own students!  I was inspired by Miss Appel's idea, so I decided to expand on it and create files to use as a reference display or a reference packet with my kiddos.  If you would like to see Miss Appel's reference sheet, click HERE.  She has a really informative website, and she is brilliant!  Lots of goodies and downloads are available... and she is a Comphension Connections fan too!

It's my Metacognition Tool Kit!  Each tool is a symbol for a different comprehension strategy.  Saw = Mental Pictures!  Tape Measure = Inferring!  Screwdriver = Questioning!  Bolts = Making Connections! Pliers = Determining Importance! Hammer = Synthesizing!  Tool Box = Schema!  For more details on what this printable is all about, or how to use this tool kit in your classroom, look at the chart below! This kit is especially fun for anchor lessons or small group instruction!  (You can tell I love it, because the exclamation points are out in full force!  Hahahaha... )
